Gagandeep Singh, MD, FACS

Dr. Singh is an internationally recognized hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeon. He is the Director of the Liver and Pancreas Center, Gastrointestinal Surgical Oncology at the John Wayne Cancer Institute (JWCI), St. John’s Health Center. Prior to moving to the JWCI, Dr. Singh was a faculty surgeon in the Department of Surgery at USC University Hospital. He has an extensive referral base that reflects peer recognition of his clinical acumen and surgical expertise and is listed as one of “America’s Top Surgeons”. He is certified by the American Boards of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

As a skilled and accomplished surgeon, Dr. Singh has extensive experience in hepatobiliary & pancreatic diseases and other gastrointestinal cancers. His clinical studies include published results of complex resections for metastatic liver cancers, vascular reconstructions following difficult pancreatic surgery for pancreatic cancer, and advanced laparoscopic surgery. Currently, he is also spearheading JWCI’s clinical program for minimally invasive surgery to encompass robotic assisted surgery.

In addition to a large clinical practice, Dr. Singh has a strong commitment to academic surgery and translational research. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Southern California; a mentor to surgeons training in JWCI’s surgical oncology fellowship program; and is actively developing cutting-edge protocols for translational research. His clinical research has been presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology and several prestigious meetings globally. His research interests include gene therapy strategies for cancer, identifying molecular signatures in pancreatic adenocarcinoma by gene expression profiling, and developing technical innovations in liver and pancreatic surgery. His work is very well published nationally and internationally with numerous publications in prestigious journals. Dr. Singh is a member of some of the top elite surgical societies and has served as invited speaker/chair at several international conferences.
